IGTIC and World Bank Representatives Discussed Climate Adaptation Efforts

On October 30, in Astana, representatives of the NJSC “International Green Technologies and Investment Center” (IGTIC), led by Chairman of the Board Didar Karimsakov, met with representatives of the World Bank, including Salamat Kussainova, Kai Kaiser and Jose-Manuel Bassat, among others. The meeting was held within the framework of the World Bank’s mission to assess Kazakhstan’s institutional system for adaptation to climate change and mitigation.

The World Bank presented preliminary findings from the Climate Change Institutional Assessment (CCIA), a tool designed to support Kazakhstan in developing and enhancing laws, policies, and institutional processes to foster cross-sectoral collaboration for climate change adaptation and mitigation. The report covers five critical elements: organization, planning, public finance, subnational governance, and state-owned enterprises.

During the meeting, both sides shared their views on the outlined potential directions for further cooperation and support from the World Bank. The CCIA final report will be finalized following the mission to align with Kazakhstan’s national and regional climate action priorities.

In conclusion, both parties agreed to continue collaboration and mutual support in addressing climate change challenges.
