The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan and Freedom Holding Corp. signed a memorandum of cooperation for the protection of natural resources

The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Freedom Holding Corp. announced the signing of a memorandum of cooperation aimed at combining efforts for the conservation and sustainable management of Kazakhstan’s natural resources. The document provides for the implementation of joint activities aimed at the protection and restoration of the country’s bioresources, with a special emphasis on the protection of flora and fauna and the protection of forest ecosystems.

The document signing ceremony took place within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, from November 11 to 22, 2024 at the Qazaqstan National Pavilion. The signatories were Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Nyssanbayev and Chief Executive Officer of Freedom Holding Corp. Timur Turlov.

According to the memorandum, the parties will implement advanced technologies and practices for effective management of Kazakhstan’s natural resources, which fully corresponds to the country’s national priorities and the global Agenda for Sustainable Development until 2030. The partnership involves comprehensive support for environmentally significant projects and the development of strategies that contribute to the adaptation of ecosystems to the effects of climate change.

One of the key areas of cooperation will be the reintroduction of the Turanian tiger, a rare and unique species, as well as the protection of its natural habitat. This project is not only aimed at restoring the Turan tiger population, but also aims to strengthen the resilience of Kazakhstan’s ecosystems to changing climatic conditions, increase biological diversity and the effectiveness of environmental initiatives.

The signing of the memorandum indicates the intention of Freedom Holding Corp. and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan to jointly promote sustainable and innovative solutions in the field of environmental protection.
