January 28 in the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan held the first meeting of the Joint Committee of the Joint Crediting Mechanism JCM (Joint Crediting Mechanism) between Kazakhstan and Japan.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Nysanbayev, as well as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Kazakhstan Yasumasa Iijima and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alibek Bakayev, representatives of the Ministries of Ecology and Natural Resources, Energy, Industry and Construction, Agriculture, as well as representatives of NAO “ICSTIP” represented by the Director of Project Management Department Bekturganov R. and Chief Manager Imanov A.

The Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) is an instrument stipulated by Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, which

aims to reduce carbon footprint and promote sustainable development through the exchange of advanced technologies and joint projects.

The session presented the key results of preparations for JCM implementation. The participants also discussed promising projects in the field of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, as well as the procedure for issuing carbon credits under the JCM mechanism.

It should be noted that the joint committee confirmed the readiness for further joint work and implementation of projects.
