The Global Cleantech Innovation Programme (GCIP) from UNIDO, together with the International Green Technologies and Investment Projects Center (IGTIPC), will act as co-organizers of an international side event within the 11th Multi-stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the Sustainable Development Goals (ECOSOC STI Forum 2026).
The Forum will take place on May 6–7, 2026 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York and serves as a key global platform for advancing solutions in science, technology, and innovation aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
As part of the Forum, an online session will be held on May 6, 2026 on the topic: “Innovation for Sustainability: Cleantech Solutions for SDGs 6, 7, 9 and 11.”
The session will bring together representatives of government bodies, international organizations, businesses, and the expert community to discuss the role of clean technologies (cleantech) in addressing global challenges, including ensuring access to clean water, developing sustainable energy, industrial infrastructure, and sustainable cities.
The following topics are planned for discussion:
- approaches to forming effective science, technology and innovation (STI) policy;
- development of innovation ecosystems and acceleration programmes;
- practical experience in scaling cleantech startups;
- the potential of international cooperation and partnerships for sustainable development.
Special attention will be given to practical cases and results of the Global Cleantech Innovation Programme (GCIP) implementation, as well as to the transition from innovative ideas to scalable solutions with measurable impact on achieving the SDGs.
