On October 17 the 41st meeting of the Berlin Eurasian Club (BEC) on the topic “Adhering to ESG Principles in Economic Cooperation between Kazakhstan and the EU/Germany” was held in Brussels.
Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Vasilenko and Representative of the European Commission Cyril Loisel delivered welcoming remarks at the opening of the event. The subsequent discussion in a hybrid format was attended by Vice Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mansur Oshurbayev, Chairman of the Advisory Board of the BEC Peter Tils, Director for Green Transition of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy Jens Bellmann, Chairman of the Board of the International Center for Green Technologies and Investment Projects (hereinafter referred to as – the Center) Didar Karimsakov, Managing Director for Products of the Administration of the International Financial Center “Astana” Daniyar Kelbetov and others.
In his online speech, Chairman of the Board Didar Karimsakov presented in detail the main areas of the Center’s work and its programs, which focus on the development of “green” technologies and support for sustainable business. In his speech, he also emphasized that one of the key areas of the Center’s activities is the development of BAT reference books, which help industries implement the best available methods to minimize environmental impacts. The Center has already developed 16 reference books and plans to release an additional 16 reference books by 2027.
“Our international partnership is key to advancing Kazakhstan’s green initiatives. We pay special attention to attracting green financing and climate investments to support sustainable projects, as well as sharing best practices within the framework of global cooperation, including cooperation with EU countries,” added the Head of the Center.
Reference: The Berlin Eurasian Club was established in 2012 to support the idea of Eurasian integration and facilitate the implementation of the state program “Path to Europe”. Since then, the Club has become a significant platform for regular dialogue between Kazakhstan, Germany and a wide range of European countries.
