Representatives of the JSC “International Green Technologies and Investment Projects Center” (IGTIPC) held a working meeting with Dr. Johannes Baur, Head of Cooperation at the Delegation of the European Union to Kazakhstan.
The parties exchanged views on key areas of current and potential collaboration, noting significant progress under ongoing programs and expressing their readiness to further develop these partnerships.
One of the central topics of discussion was the EU’s confirmation of continued support for the development of Best Available Techniques (BAT) Reference books. This initiative plays a vital role in promoting environmentally sustainable solutions in Kazakhstan, and IGTIPC expressed its gratitude for the EU’s willingness to continue this cooperation.
As part of the Cooperation Facility mechanism, the possibility of expanding the scope of collaboration was discussed. Both parties agreed that deepening the partnership within this framework could lead to more impactful results in advancing green initiatives.
The discussion also covered projects under SWITCH-Asia and Horizon Europe. IGTIPC representatives expressed their readiness to enhance participation in both areas, including joining existing consortia or initiating new joint proposals. The EU side also conveyed its willingness to support contact-building with relevant organizations across Europe.
Additionally, the parties discussed preparations for the 2026 Regional Climate Summit, scheduled to take place in Kazakhstan. IGTIPC, as a member of the organizing committee, expressed its interest in maintaining close cooperation with the EU throughout the preparation process.
At the end of the meeting, IGTIPC presented a portfolio of projects for consideration, including in the areas of renewable energy and waste management, as potential areas for deepened cooperation. The Hydro4U project was also mentioned, and the Center expressed appreciation for the EU’s support in establishing contact with the responsible representative.
The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their mutual interest in strengthening strategic cooperation and agreeing to continue the dialogue on all discussed matters.
