The International Green Technologies and Investment Projects Center (IGTIC) continues to strengthen international cooperation in the field of sustainable development. On May 5, the Center hosted a meeting with Dr. Edward Game, Lead Scientist and Director of Conservation for the Asia-Pacific Region at The Nature Conservancy (TNC), one of the world’s leading environmental organizations.
Operating in more than 70 countries, The Nature Conservancy has established itself over the past 70 years as a trusted global partner in biodiversity conservation, climate change adaptation, sustainable resource management, and the implementation of nature-based solutions. The organization is known for its science-driven and partnership-oriented approach to restoring ecosystems, protecting biodiversity, and promoting effective land and water management.
During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities for joint environmental initiatives in Kazakhstan. TNC expressed strong interest in developing a partnership with IGTIC through shared expertise and the launch of collaborative projects focused on land restoration, the application of nature-based solutions, improvement of water management systems, afforestation, and biodiversity conservation. Particular attention was given to TNC’s projects in Mongolia, which include river ecosystem protection, soil stabilization, and the restoration of natural reserves under arid climate conditions—approaches potentially relevant to Kazakhstan’s landscape.
IGTIC presented its key areas of activity, including the GCIP Kazakhstan program (Global Cleantech Innovation Program), the promotion of Best Available Techniques (BAT), the implementation of the international Green Bridge Partnership Program, and support for cleantech startups. The discussion also covered potential collaboration in green finance, voluntary carbon markets, and the certification of environmental technologies in accordance with international standards. TNC confirmed its willingness to assist in fundraising and in promoting Kazakhstan’s sustainability initiatives at the global level.
As part of the visit, Dr. Game expressed interest in engaging with government agencies of the Republic of Kazakhstan to explore national environmental priorities and align them with TNC’s global programs.
As noted by IGTIC, partnerships with organizations such as The Nature Conservancy offer new opportunities for Kazakhstan to strengthen its position in the global environmental agenda and may become a key step toward large-scale ecological transformation. The parties agreed to continue dialogue and prepare a working roadmap for further cooperation.
