As part of the official visit of Mafalda Duarte, Executive Director of the Green Climate Fund (GCF), to Kazakhstan, a presentation of key projects under the GCIP Kazakhstan (Global Cleantech Innovation Programme) was held. The event took place at the Center for Sustainable Development, ESG, and Innovation at the A. Saginov Karaganda Technical University and served as a valuable opportunity to showcase Kazakhstan’s green innovation potential to international partners.
GCIP Kazakhstan is implemented under the auspices of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the International Center for Green Technologies and Investment Projects (IGTIPC), in partnership with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and with support from the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
During the visit, the GCF delegation and representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) were introduced to projects focused on energy efficiency, digital environmental monitoring, sustainable land use, and water technologies. All initiatives presented are aligned with Kazakhstan’s national climate goals and contribute to the development of a green economy.
As one of the world’s largest international climate finance mechanisms, the Green Climate Fund plays a key role in supporting such programs by improving access to investments for developing countries. The GCIP Kazakhstan presentation demonstrated tangible results of local climate entrepreneurship and its contribution to sustainable development.
The participation of Kazakh startups in the official GCF visit program highlights the growing international interest in Kazakhstan’s experience in green technology. The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and IGTIPC will continue advancing climate innovation and integrating Kazakhstan into global environmental processes.
