The International Green Technologies and Investment Projects Center (IGTIPC), operating under Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, has been appointed Co-Chair of the newly established Alliance for Innovation and Cooperation in Low-Carbon Technologies under the global “Belt and Road” (BRI) initiative. The new Alliance brings together 26 organizations from 22 countries—including top research, technology, and investment institutions—to promote sustainable solutions and accelerate the global climate transition.
Speaking at the Alliance’s founding ceremony, Acting Chairman of IGTIPC, Saken Kalkamanov, stated: “Our role as Co-Chair reflects the Center’s growing influence in advancing international cooperation in climate technologies and green investment. We are ready to support technology transfer and create sustainable financing mechanisms, including through a fund proposed by the Chinese side to support green projects in BRI countries.”
The Alliance’s governance structure includes the Administrative Center for the Implementation of China’s Agenda for the 21st Century and the Shanghai Science and Technology Exchange Center (SSTEC), along with two co-chairs—IGTIPC and Shanghai Electric Group. The Council also includes 22 universities and technological institutions from member countries such as Germany, New Zealand, Bulgaria, Hungary, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
The Alliance’s creation marks a significant contribution to the implementation of the Paris Agreement and the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
During the forum, IGTIPC also held a bilateral meeting with SCO Deputy Secretary-General Mr. Janesh Kane to explore cooperation opportunities in introducing Best Available Techniques in Central Asia, accelerating regional startups, and implementing innovative and climate-focused projects.
