French Organization CITEPA Presents Certificate of Recognition to IGTIC in Stockholm

Stockholm, October 8, 2025 – IGTIC presented Kazakhstan’s achievements in ecological modernization at the 11th annual meeting of the Task Force on Techno-Economic Issues (TFTEI), held under the UNECE Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution. The Center’s work received international recognition — the French organization CITEPA (Centre Interprofessionnel Technique d’Études de la Pollution Atmosphérique) awarded an official Certificate of Recognition, affirming IGTIC’s status as a key institution in Central Asia.

The awarding of the Certificate confirms IGTIC’s recognized leadership in sustainable industrial transformation in the region. Its work positions it as a key institution in promoting environmentally responsible and technologically advanced practices throughout Central Asia.

Saltanat Almurzaeva, Head of the Expert Evaluation Department at the IGTIC BAT Bureau, also delivered a plenary session presentation at TFTEI. In her presentation titled “Development of BAT Reference Documents in Kazakhstan and the Experience of Implementing Integrated Environmental Permits”, she presented Kazakhstan’s systematic experience in developing 20 sectoral BAT reference documents and launching the Integrated Environmental Permitting (IEP) mechanism.

IEP replaces the previous fragmented system of separate permits for emissions, discharges, and waste disposal. The new approach requires enterprises to adopt a comprehensive view of environmental impact control, comply with BAT reference documents, and undergo mandatory production modernization. This ensures long-term sustainability, regulatory transparency, and increased resource efficiency.

Kazakhstan’s presentation sparked great interest and received positive feedback from international experts. Delegates from other countries expressed a strong willingness to exchange experience and acknowledged Kazakhstan’s leadership in transitioning to environmentally oriented industrial policy.
