IGTIC Held a Successful Media Briefing to Discuss Kazakhstan’s Key Environmental Priorities

The International Green Technologies and Investment Projects Center (IGTIC) held a press breakfast for representatives of Kazakhstan’s media, creating a platform for open dialogue on the country’s key environmental policy areas and systemic reforms in waste management. The event took place in a warm and constructive atmosphere, bringing together around 20 journalists from national and sectoral media outlets.

Special attention during the meeting was given to Kazakhstan’s climate policy efforts, international cooperation, and the importance of preparing the country for global environmental challenges. IGTIC representatives highlighted that Kazakhstan is consistently strengthening its climate ambitions, advancing low-carbon development projects, and expanding partnerships with international funds and expert organizations.

Journalists were briefed on the work of the Bureau of Best Available Techniques (BAT), operating under IGTIC. The Center’s team shared updates on the development and revision of BAT reference documents, methodological support provided to industrial enterprises, and the role of the Bureau as a sectoral coordinator in the transition to clean and resource-efficient technologies.

During the press breakfast, IGTIC also highlighted the victory of the Murat Beton Technology project — one of the successful cases of implementing environmental technologies in the construction sector. The project demonstrated an effective approach to using secondary materials and introducing resource-saving solutions, becoming an example for regional businesses and participants in environmental initiatives.

Journalists were presented with updated information on international partnerships. On November 11, 2025, the Center received an official letter of intent from a major company from China expressing readiness to invest USD 3 million in Kazakhstan’s green projects, including the localization of environmental monitoring equipment production and the launch of pilot solutions in cooperation with Kazhydromet and CERC.

The briefing also featured new developments in innovation support, including the expansion of the Green Technologies Registry maintained by the Center since 2022. As of the end of 2025, the registry includes 68 technologies and projects. Incentive mechanisms are currently under development to support the implementation of registered projects into the national economy. These mechanisms include grant financing, concessional lending, partial subsidization of interest rates on green bonds, as well as attracting sustainable financing through the recycling fee and payments for negative environmental impact. These tools aim to expand opportunities for scaling green technologies and attracting investment.

Media representatives noted the Center’s openness, accessible information, and high level of speaker preparation.
