RES 2026 EXPO: Kazakhstan Unveils the Concept of the Largest Environmental Exhibition in the Region

The official presentation of the international exhibition RES 2026 EXPO was held in Astana. The event will become a central component of the Regional Environmental Summit of Central Asia 2026 (RES-2026). The exhibition is organized by the International Center for Green Technologies and Investment Projects (IGTIC) together with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The exhibition and summit aim to bring together representatives of government agencies, businesses, international organizations, and the scientific and expert community to discuss key issues of sustainable development, environmental protection, and green technologies.

Opening the event, Vice Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mansur Oshurbayev emphasized that today’s environmental challenges require coordinated, global solutions:

“As the Head of State has repeatedly stressed, the environmental emergency is a global crisis that demands a unified response. We share a joint responsibility to preserve our planet and ensure a sustainable future. This is precisely why the Regional Environmental Summit of Central Asia 2026 was initiated with the support of the United Nations—to develop a shared vision for the region’s sustainable future. The summit should unite political will, scientific expertise, and practical solutions to address the most acute environmental challenges, including transboundary water issues, climate change, and biodiversity conservation.”

During the presentation, participants were introduced to the concept of RES 2026 EXPO, its key directions, participation formats, objectives, and extensive opportunities for partners, exhibitors, and investors. Chairman of the Management Board of IGTIC Saken Kalkamanov highlighted the strong international interest and large-scale preparations:

“The exhibition is positioned as an international platform for showcasing environmental innovations, exchanging best practices, and promoting technologies that accelerate the region’s ecological transformation. We have already secured an exhibition area of 11,000 square meters, and major companies and foreign embassies have expressed strong interest and active engagement.”

Special attention was given to the importance of international cooperation in the green economy and the introduction of technological solutions capable of reshaping the environmental agenda of Central Asia. Participants had the opportunity to establish direct dialogue with government bodies, businesses, and international institutions, as well as present their own developments on an international stage.

Shyngys Sher, Project Director of RES 2026 EXPO, emphasized the strategic importance of the upcoming event:

“RES 2026 EXPO is more than an event; it is a movement aimed at creating long-term and meaningful changes for our planet. Through collaboration and innovation, we strive to accelerate the global transition to a sustainable future, where every step forward is a victory for the environment and future generations.”

A significant part of the event was the awards ceremony for the RES 2026 EXPO Organizing Committee, which received a gold eco-label and certificate confirming successful participation in the Smart Plastic Zone project. The award recognizes the implementation of sustainable plastic management practices and a significant contribution to fostering environmental responsibility.

The gold eco-label is awarded to organizations that have minimized plastic use, introduced alternative materials, ensured separate waste collection, and arranged the transfer of plastic waste for recycling. The award was ceremonially presented by Julia Yakupbayeva, Chair of the Board of the Green Urban Association.

The presentation of RES 2026 EXPO marked an important stage in the preparation for the international event, strengthening dialogue among all stakeholders and setting a high standard for the major environmental forum to be held in 2026.
