Astana, August 22, 2024 – Temirlan Atarbayev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the International Green Technologies and Investment Projects Center (hereinafter – the Center), held a meeting with representatives of the Canadian Embassy in Astana – Jurgita Rushkyte, Second Secretary (Commercial) and Trade Commissioner, and Gaziz Shotanov, Trade Commissioner for Business Development. During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for cooperation in green technologies and sustainable development.
Temirlan Atarbayev provided a detailed overview of the Center’s activities, highlighting key programs such as the Global Cleantech Innovation Program (GCIP), Readiness, and educational initiatives under IGTIC Academia. He also emphasized the importance of the Center’s work in implementing the national capacity-building program under the Green Climate Fund (GCF). Additionally, he highlighted that the Center is responsible for curating the content of the National Pavilion of Kazakhstan at the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC) COP29.
The Canadian representatives expressed interest in strengthening cooperation with the Center and supporting environmental initiatives aimed at improving the ecological situation in Kazakhstan and transitioning to a green economy. The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to exchange information on promising opportunities in the field of green technology development.
