Astana, September 16, 2024 – Representatives of the NJSC “International Green Technologies and Investment Center” (hereinafter referred to as the Center) held a meeting with Richard Dion, Senior Advisor on Government Relations at CONNEX, as well as with representatives from the British Embassy in Astana, including Cathy Cottrell, Ainur Islamgalieva, and GIZ representative Sabyr Asylbekov.
During the meeting, the British side informed about the CONNEX initiative, which provides advisory support for large-scale investment projects in infrastructure, renewable energy, and compliance with environmental standards. This initiative has been active since 2017 and has already supported many promising projects in 23 developing countries with the involvement of leading experts. GIZ is a partner of the CONNEX initiative.
Aliya Abdildina, Director of International Cooperation and Marketing Department provided a detailed overview of the Center’s work on forming a pool of “green” projects and attracting “green” financing. She also extended an invitation to visit the National Pavilion of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference COP29 in Baku. The Center has productive cooperation with many international organizations and supports the development of investment projects using green technologies and energy efficiency.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to exchange information on opportunities in the field of green technologies and promising projects. For its part, CONNEX expressed its willingness to consider providing technical support to the Center’s initiatives and participating in events at COP29.
