Pavlodar Region Discusses Transition to BAT Principles

In April 2025, a field meeting of the Committee on Agrarian Issues of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan took place in Atyrau Region. The event brought together representatives of government agencies and industrial enterprises in the region.

The main focus of the discussion was the transition of industrial enterprises to the principles of Best Available Techniques (BAT). As of today, Kazakhstan has developed BAT reference documents for 83 first-category enterprises. However, only 7 of these enterprises have undergone a Comprehensive Technological Audit (CTA). In this regard, the International Center for Green Technologies and Investment Projects (CGTIP) has initiated efforts to conduct CTA across the remaining enterprises to ensure compliance with environmental standards and to accelerate the adoption of modern technologies.

During the working visit, the Acting Chairman of the Management Board of CGTIP, Mr. Saken Kalkamanov, joined representatives from the Senate Committee and the Ministry of Ecology in visiting key industrial facilities in the region, including a major oil refinery and a sturgeon plant. Together with the Committee on Natural Resources and Environmental Control, the delegation discussed mechanisms for environmental regulation and the step-by-step implementation of BAT in industrial processes.

CGTIP continues to provide methodological support to enterprises and promotes the transition to a green economy by advancing the adoption of best available techniques across Kazakhstan’s industrial sector.
