Kazakhstan’s experience in implementing Best Available Techniques (BAT) and improving environmental regulations for industry was presented at the 11th meeting of the Expert Group of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), held in Istanbul, Türkiye, from 6 to 9 October 2026.

As part of an international conference on cleaner production, a Kazakh delegation representing the International Green Technologies and Investment Projects Center presented the country’s approaches to developing sector-specific BAT reference documents and facilitating the transition of industrial enterprises to integrated environmental permits.

The practices presented attracted interest from international experts, including representatives of the OECD, the Republic of Korea, the United Kingdom, UNICEF and Thailand. Participants expressed their interest in further exchanging experience and expertise in environmental regulation and the implementation of BAT.

Participation in the events helped strengthen international professional ties and identify opportunities for future cooperation in green technologies and the environmental modernisation of industry.
